Just like a computer, you can install and uninstall programs into your mind. But
as the computer process happens easily, this is not the case for the
subconscious mind which takes a much longer time to develop. This is because the
mind has its own security system that scrutinizes new thoughts and ideas, making
sure that you really want those new beliefs. Your subconscious mind does not
allow unfamiliar changes to enter easily especially when it encounters changes
that are inconsistent with your old behaviors.
This is good for you since your mind's security system protects your true beliefs and behaviors. That is why not every idea that passes by you is accepted by your subconscious mind. This is how your mind prevents all day to day ideas and suggestions from causing confusion within you. Otherwise there would be chaos in your mind!
But when the time comes that you want to change a certain bad behavior or bad attitude, it can be difficult and taxing on you. This is because the built-in security system in your mind refuses to accept those new ideas even though the decision comes from the conscious mind that you want to change for the better. The subconscious mind has become used to your past actions. The mind scrutinizes all new ideas, whether good or bad, and compares it to its previously established way of life. It then rejects it when the new idea is considered contradictory with the past behavior.
There are ways to deal with this problem. One way is to use force by doing the good action repeatedly until it becomes a natural and habitual behavior. But this can be met with a lot of troubles and frustration because this method takes a long time to develop to make it work. This technique would require a lot of patience but over a period of time the repetitive behavior would dominate over the built-in security system. Then the subconscious mind would submit to and accept the new behavior and ultimately form a new pattern of habit.
Obviously, not a lot of people have the perseverance and patience to do the method above over a very long time to get their minds to agree to and accept the new changes in behavior, attitudes and beliefs. But here comes the great news! They can still have the changes in their life that they desire because there is a better, more simple, and probably the best way to deal with the mind's built- in security system and affect change in the subconscious.
