Second notable event of the INDIAN AUTUMN 2014 festival is going to take place on the 3rd of October (Friday) at the Riga Small theatre.
World-known, delicate and unusually energetic dancer Janaki Rangarajan (India, USA) will perform a unique innovative program in front of the local audience.
The language of dance is not a language that is hard to understand, it denies cultural and geographical borders. Personality of a true dancer accumulates perceptible and imperceptible experience of the world, and shares it with the audience.
The centrepiece of the performance, ‘Antaryatra - The Journey Within’, is based on the verses of ‘Kamayani’, an epic 20th Century poem written in Hindi by Sri. Jai Shankar Prasad. ‘Kamayani’ explores the beauty and complexity of human thoughts and emotions. The performance also features ‘Daupadi's Dharma’, a poem by modern poet Pramila Venkateswaran. Originally composed in English, several verses have been translated into Tamil and set to music. The performance also features poems by classical poets like Adi Shankara and Jayadeva. The final piece, ‘Ishq’, explores the beauty of pure love through Sufi poetry.
The theatre café will be open from 18.00. A large variety of Indian snacks and sweets will be offered by the vegetarian centre ‘Jagannat’.
The tickets are available at ‘Bilesu Serviss’ for 7-10 €. The festival is organised by the Indian cultural centre BHARATA.
